According to a recent post in the Channel Partnes E-Newsletter,
Worldwide sales of IP phones picked up momentum in 2010, as the migration toward IP telephony systems continues, according to new stats from research firm In-Stat.
Within the business market, corded IP phones remain the standard, and will keep dominating the enterprise IP phone market through 2015. In fact, shipments of IP phones – for the business and consumer markets – will surpass 40 million units in 2015, In-Stat found.
“IP phones are enabling businesses and consumers to use their telephone system for more advanced communications," said Norm Bogen, In-Stat’s vice president of digital entertainment. “These applications are more clearly understood in the enterprise space, where IP-based communication is replacing TDM networks at a steady pace."
Cisco Systems Inc. and Avaya Inc. lead the market for enterprise IP phones. Other major competitors include Aastra, Alcatel-Lucent, LG, Mitel, NEC, Polycom, ShoreTel and Siemens.
